The Carraig Gheal Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund Steering Group welcomed three new members to the latest meeting held at the end of March via video call: James Miller representing Glenorchy and Innishail Community Council area and Maggie Croft and Jamie Houston representing Taynuilt Community Council area. The Steering Group now has a full membership and are very grateful to the new members for having come forward to add their views and expertise.
Despite Covid-19, local groups within the area are still active with five main grant applications having been submitted for this latest round of funding. The Steering Group felt that these were all very worthy causes that will greatly benefit the local communities these groups are based in and approved them all totalling over £22,000:
- Kilmore and Kilbride Public Hall Committee – funds towards fitting out the extension of the hall
- Dalmally Golf Club – funds towards a second-hand fairway cutter
- The Avant Gardeners (TAG) – funds for a mobile chipper and shredder
- Taynuilt Golf Club – funds towards a tipping trailer
- Dalavich Improvement Group – funds towards replacement pontoons
Kilmore and Kilbride Public Hall extension works underway
The next round of funding for main grants will open on 1st May with a closing date of 31st July and the Steering Group will meet at the end of September to decide which applications to approve and by how much. Up to £7,000 is available to constituted groups with projects that offer strong community benefit within the five community council areas that border the Carraig Gheal wind farm: Avich & Kilchrenan, Taynuilt, Glenorchy & Innishail, Kilinver & Kilmelford and Kilmore.
Micro grants of up to £500 are also available to individuals and groups within the five community council areas and can be applied for at any time.
